Allergy Testing in Louisville, KY

Dealing with chronic allergies in your pets can be a challenging experience. At Springhurst Animal Hospital, we understand the impact allergies can have on various pets, including exotic ones. Our specialized services extend beyond routine veterinary care, focusing on precise allergy testing and tailored solutions to address your pet’s unique needs.

Does Your Pet Have Chronic Allergies?

Springhurst Animal Hospital can perform allergy testing on your pet by drawing a blood sample for analysis by the lab. Allergy testing is extremely helpful in determining exactly which allergen or allergens are causing the most discomfort in your pet.

Once these allergens have been determined, the lab can customize an allergy serum for your pet to be used to treat your pet’s allergies.

There are two different types of treatment options:

  • Allergy Injections: Shots administered over a 9-month period in decreasing doses with gradual increases in concentration. This will help build a tolerance to the offending allergens. The initial 9-month period is followed by monthly maintenance shots.
  • Sublingual Allergy Drops: This method requires daily administration of several drops placed below your pet’s tongue. This is a great solution for owners and pets who would prefer a needle-free option.
