Dr. Lee Hankins
As founding veterinarian and managing partner, Dr. Hankins has been treating pets at Springhurst Animal Hospital since 1999. He attended Western Kentucky University for his undergraduate work and then obtained his degree in Veterinary Medicine from Tuskegee University. Dr. Hankins returned to Kentucky to begin his career as a veterinarian and accomplish his dream of establishing his own practice.
Thanks to his unending compassion for all animals, Springhurst Animal Hospital has celebrated 18 strong years of success and continued growth.
When not working, Dr. Hankins enjoys spending time with his family and his own pets. He enjoys traveling, golf, tennis, and anything pertaining to the equine industry.
Dr. Stello was born and raised in Elkins, WV. She obtained her undergraduate degree from West Virginia University in 1999. She attended the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine in Athens, GA until 2003. After vet school, she moved to Hollywood, FL and completed a 13 month internship at Hollywood Animal Hospital focusing on medicine, surgery and emergency care. She remained at the practice for 3 additional years as an associate veterinarian.
In 2007, Dr. Stello and her husband Derek moved to Kentucky to be closer to family. She started at Springhurst Animal Hospital in the fall of 2007. They have since welcomed their daughter Eliza, and twins, Jet and Marley to the family. Dr. Stello is also mom to a St. Bernard mix, Griffen, and a Jack Russell, Teddy.
Dr. Lisa Keehner
Dr. Keehner specializes in animal rehabilitation and animal acupuncture. Her practice focuses on dogs and cats who have need of a primary care veterinarian as well as weight and pain management. She is also proficient in ultrasound. Dr. Keehner has been practicing veterinary medicine since 2000 after graduating from Iowa State University. She completed a rotating internship in San Diego, California before moving to Memphis, Tennessee. She arrived in Louisville in 2002 to start a residency in Emergency and Critical Medicine at LVSES. She stayed on as a senior clinician. In 2007, she became a certified veterinary rehabilitation therapist (CVRT). She is also pursuing additional certification in pain management from the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management.
She enjoys volunteering with the local veterinary medical association as well as at her daughter’s school. She enjoys reading, biking, and is a huge movie buff. Along with her daughter, she has two Labrador retrievers, Rosie and Millie, and two cats Garfield and Sam .
Mary Rauch, our Practice Manager, was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. She has been in the veterinary industry now for over 20 years and joined Springhurst Animal Hospital in 2006. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Biology, from the University of Louisville, with a focus in Animal Behavior and Ecology. Mary’s family works with the Louisville Weimaraner Rescue Group. Mary has her own Weimaraner, Layla, and a Russian Tortoise, Natasha. Her hobbies include running, reading, camping, and hiking with her family.
Megan is our full-time groomer and has been with Springhurst Animal Hospital for a little over two years. At home, she has a Pit Bull mix, Midnight, and recently welcomed a new kitty, Jasper, to her family.
Erin has been part of our reception team since 2015, and loves to greet all of our furry friends. She has a Pit Bull mix, Michael, and a cat, Tyson. In her spare time she enjoys going to the dog park with Michael and getting to interact with all the other puppies. In the summer, she volunteers at local animal rescues.
Brittany is originally from Louisville, Kentucky, but just recently moved back from Florida. She joined our reception team in October of 2016. Brittany rescued her cat, Mombo, from Woodstock Animal Foundation and still works with the no-kill shelter in her spare time.
Deb is a native of Louisville, Kentucky, who recently joined SAH as a receptionist. She has worked with animals in clinics and on farms for the last 15 years. Her family includes Lulu, a 10 year old English Bulldog, and Angie, a 15 year old cat.
Lindsay has been with Springhurst Animal Hospital since January 2009. She graduated from the University of Evansville with a bachelor’s degree in biology. Lindsay then graduated from Purdue University’s Veterinary Technician program with an Associates Degree. She is a registered Veterinary Technician and has been working in the field for 17 years. She and her husband currently reside in Southern Indiana with their two dogs and two cats.
Naomy is one of our Veterinary Technicians, and joined Springhurst Animal Hospital in May 2016. The secret to life is doing what you love, and Naomy is doing just that! She loves her job as a Veterinary Technician because she gives all animals the love and care they deserve. Shortly after graduating high school in California, Naomy moved to Louisville to pursue a career she had once dreamed of. She received her associate’s degree of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology in March 2016. Naomy is passionate about her job and enjoys the rewarding satisfaction of helping all animals. Her heart belongs to her fur babies at home; Copper the Basset/Beagle and Cali the Pit Bull mix.
Shelby has been at Springhurst Animal Hospital for almost 10 years. She started as a Kennel Technician and transitioned into a Veterinary Technician. Shelby has a labradoodle named Lucy and a chocolate lab named Pippa. In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis.
Natalie Lyvers was born and raised here in Louisville. She began working at Springhurst in November 2016 after graduating from Harrison College with a degree in Veterinary Technology. She has 2 dogs, a Great Dane and a mix breed, and 2 black cats,that keep her very busy. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending time with family.
Ashley was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. She recently joined our team as a veterinary technician, in February 2017. She truly loves working in the animal industry and has over seven years of experience in the field. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and relaxing with her fur babies.
Molly has been with Springhurst Animal Hospital since September 2015. She is a full time student at the University of Louisville and plans to pursue her career as a veterinarian. Molly has two fur babies at home and spends her free time playing with them. She also enjoys spending time with friends and family.
Amanda was born and raised here in Louisville, Kentucky. She lives here with her four-year-old fox hound Gage and kitten Byron Augustan Ernest aka Auggie. She's the Lead Animal Care Attendant at our hospital and has been with us for a year so far! She's also our weekend groomer! Amanda spent her summer of 2015 volunteering at Amics dels animals d'Esporles and caring for the village's pets in Mallorca, Spain. Amanda has been working in animal care for 3 years now but grew up surrounded by furry friends. When she's not at the hospital, she enjoys taking hikes around Louisville's parks with her pup, Gage.
Marissa is originally from Aurora, Colorado. She joined Springhurst in August of 2016 and is currently the Lead Animal Care Attendant. She has three cats and a horse. In her spare time she enjoys being with family, reading, writing, and spending time with her pets.
Harrison is from Hopkinsville, KY and works as a kennel technician at Springhurst Animal Hospital. He has five years of experience working in the animal field, but has been with Springhurst Animal Hospital for a little over a year. Harrison has a bachelor's degree in biology with an emphasis on animal biology. He has two rescue cats named Dora and Fred. In his spare time, he likes to spend the day around the Louisville Zoo.
Taylor was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky where she works as a Kennel assistant here at Springhurst Animal Hospital. She has grown up surrounded by animals, and currently has a rescue boxer named Oscar. Along with taking care of Oscar, she is also a foster parent for the Kentucky Humane Society. Taylor enjoys having the opportunity make animals happy and comfortable so owners know they are having a great time during their stay at Springhurst Animal Hospital.
Emma has been working at Springhurst Animal Hospital for almost a year. She is 16 years old and a junior at Sacred Heart Academy. She’s lived in Texas and Illinois, but has resided here in Louisville for the past eight years. At Springhurst Animal Hospital, she works as a Kennel Technician and in her spare time, enjoys walking her five year-old golden retriever, Wishes. She also enjoys fostering puppies and dog-sitting for friends and neighbors
