Springhurst Animal Hospital can perform allergy testing on your pet by drawing a blood sample for analysis by the lab. Allergy testing is extremely helpful in determining exactly which allergen or allergens are causing the most discomfort in your pet.
Once these allergens have been determined the lab is able to customize an allergy serum for your pet to be used for the treatment of your pet's allergies.
There are two different types of treatment options:
1. Allergy Injections: Shots administered over a 9-month period in decreasing doses with gradual increases in concentration. This will help build a tolerance to the offending allergens. The initial 9-month period is followed by monthly maintenance shots.
2. Sublingual Allergy Drops: This method requires daily administration, of a number of drops placed below your pet's tongue. This is a great solution for owners and pets who would prefer a needle-free option.
